If you think you need to skip delicious desserts in order to maintain your weight and balance your blood sugar, think again. This low-carb keto dessert recipe is both decadent and delicious, and to top it all off, it's simple to make. These blood sugar-friendly brownies have only 10g of carbohydrates per serving, so you can have your cake and eat it too.

Why You Need To Try This Keto Brownie Recipe

While there are a zillion brownie recipes out there, this is by far our favorite. We’ve scoured the internet and tested countless variations, so you don't have to. Moist, chewy, chocolatey, and fudgey, we are confident this is the brownie to beat. Here’s why:

  • These brownies are low-carb and keto-friendly, so they won’t spike your blood sugar.
  • This recipe uses almond flour instead of traditional flour, so it’s higher in fiber and gluten-free.
  • These low-carb brownies are made with just seven simple ingredients

Ingredients Needed

The flour

To make these brownies lower in carbs and gluten-free, use fine almond meal or almond flour. If you are allergic to nuts, opt for coconut flour.

The cocoa powder

For authentic-tasting brownies use Dutch cocoa powder, as this is the type of cocoa used in boxed brownie mixes. The cocoa powder will give these chocolate brownies an intense chocolate flavor. If Dutch cocoa powder is not available, use unsweetened cocoa powder as an alternative.

The sweetener

These brownies can be made with regular sugar (for a non-keto version). For a true keto brownie, stick with approved sweeteners or sugar substitutes like granulated erythritol, monkfruit, or stevia.

The chocolate

The quality of chocolate will make or break your brownie recipe. For chocolate chips, aim to use a sugar-free chocolate chip variety. For chocolate chunks, use 100% dark baking chocolate.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ¾ cup butter or coconut oil
  • ½ cup keto chocolate chips
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup allulose
  • 3 large eggs
  • Optional: ⅓ cup chopped walnuts, pecans, or slivered almonds

These brownies are super easy to make with a prep time of 7 minutes, cook time of 18 minutes, and a total time of 25 minutes.

  • Preheat the oven to 350F.
  • Line an 8 x 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper

  • In a small saucepan, add the butter and half the chocolate chips. Heat on medium until melted and whisk together. Remove from heat.
  • In another large bowl, add the eggs and beat using an electric mixer. Eggs should be slightly frothy.
  • Slowly add the chocolate and butter mixture to the eggs.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well until you have a thick, glossy brownie batter.
  • Fold in remaining chocolate chips (and nuts if you choose)
  • Pour brownie batter into the 8 x 8-inch baking pan, and bake for 14-18 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean).

Make the Best Keto Brownies With These Tips

Try these tips for the best brownies ever:

  • Don’t overbake! Oven temperatures may vary, so check your brownies starting at minute 14.
  • Get creative! We love adding nuts for their healthy fat and fiber, but you can try berries, sugar-free candy, sugar-free marshmallows, or low-carb pretzels.
  • Make sure the brownies are completely cool before you cut them; otherwise, they can be sticky and hard to remove.

How to Store Your Keto Brownies

If you don’t eat all these brownies right away (we won’t blame you if you do!), you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. As with all foods, bacteria can grow rapidly at room temperature, so once the brownies have cooled, transfer them to the refrigerator as soon as possible. If you freeze them, they will be good for up to 4 months. Keep in mind that foods stored in the freezer can lose moisture and flavor over time.1
